Richard Tanner

Hello, my name is Richard Tanner aka Rick.  I have been an avid photography enthusiast all my adult life.  This addiction has taken me through a lot of good times and gotten me through a lot of bad times and has remained the one constant in life that has kept me somewhat sane.

My photographic journey started in 1970 with a Pentax Spotmatic and one screw in normal lens. Overtime my endeavors lead me to progress to a forty-year love affair with Nikon starting with the F2 and ending with the D810.  When a rogue wave at First Beach in Olympic National Park destroyed my D810 my friend Jack Graham introduced me to the Fujifilm XT-1 and I haven’t looked back since then.

Early in my fascination with photography I was predominantly a monochrome film shooter.  Most of my work was in black and white negative film utilizing; 35mm, 6X7 and 4X5 formats.  I see myself as a generalist/opportunist rather than a “storyteller” or an “Artist”. I have dabbled in many aspects of this craft including Underwater, a short stint a Commercial Photographer but fate has always led me back to photograph Nature and Landscape to fulfill the artistic part of me.
